A long hot summer for Iced Coffee

Since it's been so hot this summer, iced is the only way I can stand to drink my coffee now! I prefer to use freshly ground beans and a French press for iced coffee. Since the press tends to make stronger coffee than a regular coffee pot it works particularly well for iced coffee.

I rarely measure the beans, but every morning I will typically use about two tablespoons of freshly ground coffee. While I typically use a medium roast, Jamaica Me Crazy is a nice lightly-flavored treat once in a while.

I generally make about 8-oz of coffee at a time. One of the great things about using a press is that the grounds are still useable; I can add more hot water once or twice and still make good strong coffee.

Generally I'll let the grounds sit for about a minute in the hot water, then slowly lower the press (this time can be extended a bit if I'm reusing grounds from earlier in the day). Once the coffee looks nice and dark I just pour it over ice and I'm done.

I generally drink my coffee black; since I live alone and would really only use milk or cream for my coffee I never go through enough to buy it consistently.

However, I do occasionally use chocolate flavored soy milk in my coffees. I find the flavor much richer than using diary-based chocolates and it's an easy and affordable way to turn my normal coffee into a mocha. |

Starbucks Cold Coffee

by Rebecca
(IN,USA)

The only real coffee I ever drink is the cold kind of the Starbucks brand. The taste is great, never really been a hot coffee drinker.

I also enjoy just mixing cheap generic coffee with cold milk and sugar. i just grew up on Iced coffee, although one day I would not mind grinding my own coffee beans up, just to see if I enjoyed that.

Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Cinnamon

by A.T.
(US)

Introduction

This is a delightful recipe which I learned by watching the staff in my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. It is a great pick-me-up, or a great celebration drink. The taste is very similar to Starbucks Frappaccino at a fraction of the cost.

Ingredients

* 6 oz fresh-brewed espresso (or double-strength coffee if you do not have an espresso maker)
* 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
* Finely crushed ice to fill tumbler or goblet
* Dash of cinnamon

Instructions

Crush the ice to fill the tumbler or goblet. Put 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk into mug. Pour fresh espresso over condensed milk, stir to blend. Pour espresso (or coffee) mixture over crushed ice. Sprinkle a dash of cinnamon on top.

Syrup with Iced Coffee

by Silly Grl

Summer is coming and what more refreshing way to start your day than a delicious iced coffee.

Generally, I don't make them at home and use my local Quick Check to purchase my iced coffee. I like that they provide Hershey's syrup on their coffee bar and they have little ice dots for their iced coffee beverages.

So I place a dollop of chocolate syrup in the base of the cup and roll it around the bottom, then fill up with the small ice dots, iced coffee and a little milk. It's not necessary to add sugar or any flavorings, it's already sweet and tasty enough!

Syrup with Iced Coffee Part Deux

by Silly Grl

Sometimes I don’t feel like making the trek into the city to get an iced coffee and want to just have it at home.

I have a huge cup I use just for iced coffee. During the summer, I make a point of taking any left over regular coffee and pouring it into a pitcher in the fridge to be used for iced coffee.

Make sure to empty it out and wash it often though. At home, I still use Hershey's syrup, but I have the Special Dark variety.

My husband prefers to have his iced coffee with a shot of Bailey’s Irish Crème, which means we will be lounging on a blanket under a shade tree for the day since he's not driving anywhere.

Puna Iced Coffee

I always make coffee in my french press. To make iced coffee, I start with local Kona coffee, with double the amount of coffee I would use to brew hot (it will dilute over the ice).

Let the coffee brew to desired strength and color, and while it's still hot, add honey (I use local passion fruit honey from the farmer's market). You can use another kind of sweetener, but it's important to do this step while the coffee is still warm.

Let the coffee cool until it's not too hot to put in the refrigerator. When it's cold enough to serve, first place ice cubes in the glass, then pour coffee over ice.

Add coconut milk in lieu of a dairy product. It's tasty, exotic, and nicer on the stomach. If you don't have honey or you didn't sweeten the coffee while it was hot, you can make a simple syrup by boiling water and sugar until the sugar dissolves.

Enjoy this delicious variation!

Tequila Espresso

Run a slice of lime around the edge of an Espresso Glass. Pour a double shot of Espresso over ice. Add a single shot of White Tequila. Not for the faint-hearted!

Most delicious combination: green tea ice cream

by Kelvin
(Irvine)

My last girlfriend introduced me to an especially delicious combination. We had been huge coffee fans and experimenting with different creamers, when the idea came up and we started brainstorming through ice cream that we could add.

Like an adult version of root beer floats! She suggested green tea ice cream. I was skeptical at first due to the bitterness, but I have been won over, and it is delicious!

Miss Pickles' Iced Coffee

by Miss Pickles

Introduction

For the most amazing iced coffee ever, I have a secret not too many people know about and trust me, it makes all the difference!

Ingredients/Method

You will start with 2 cups of strongly brewed black coffee that has cooled. Place it in a blender with 1/4 cup of sugar, a teaspoon of vanilla, and ...

Surprise!

1 cup of (surprise!) evaporated milk. Yes, that's right, evaporated milk! It adds a richness and creaminess you can't get from regular milk or cream.

Fill the blender with crushed ice and depending on how much you like chocolate, a few teaspoons (or more!) of chocolate syrup.

Blend well. Pour into a tall glass or mug and top with a dollop of whipped cream and some cocoa powder or chocolate-covered coffee beans.

Delicious, fast, and easy!

Enjoy!

Coffee: Strawberries and Creme frappuccino

When I get the chance to drink coffee it usually is a strawberries and creme frappuccino from Starbucks coffee. I love the taste of it, sweet and fruity with a touch of coffee.

I also love Starbucks because its one of the cold drinks I can buy there! Since I don't have a lot of money on me, I have my parents or my friends get it for me!
