How to make coffee in six easy steps
How to make coffee
How to make coffee in the morning? Like me you've battled your coffee maker trying to figure out how to make a decent cup of coffee. Perhaps you wonder why that stuff in your cup doesn't taste like it should. Help is at hand!
There are many ways to make good coffee. But if you are hurrying out to work in the morning, it's likely the worst time to learn how to make coffee properly! Put a few minutes into reading this page and you will learn how to improve your morning brew.
First, put that instant coffee jar down!
I have yet to taste instant coffee that is even close to the flavor of freshly made coffee. So put that jar down! First step complete! Well done!
You're about to enter a whole new word of fantastic coffees that will make your experience of instant coffee nothing less than a faded nightmare.
Second, what coffee brands are you likely to buy?
There are dozens of coffee brands, major and minor in the marketplace. Not to mention different coffee roasts, beans, and grinds. Choosing a coffee brand can be difficult the first time.
There are dozens of varieties in many supermarkets, and the specialist stores have even more varieties. Start off with a medium roast coffee that is either ground or whole bean.
Third, are you going to buy ground coffee or whole bean coffee?
For those starting their coffee journeys and want to know how to make coffee, ground coffee is fine. Just make sure that you always close the pack, store it in an air-tight place, and don't keep it too long!
But if you are keen to try whole bean coffee, and you don't have a coffee bean grinder. Don't worry. Ask your coffee store to grind your coffee for you.
Increasingly, the most popular brands are offering both whole bean coffee and pre-ground alternatives. Experiment with the most popular brands. Just don't buy a huge bag of coffee at this point, in case you get stuck with a type of coffee that you really can't stomach!
Fourth, how are you going to make the coffee?
We look at two different ways to make coffee: the French Press and the Drip or Filter Coffee Maker. Both are easy to learn, easy to use, and easy to maintain. Which one do you have or plan to buy?
The French Press produces a limited supply of a full-flavored coffee, with little fuss. Keeping the unused coffee warm isn't so easy and supply can be more limited than with a drip coffee maker. On a personal note, I own both of these methods. I do like the French press but they are very easy to break!
While the Filter Coffee Maker can be turned on when you're away, the flavor isn't quite as concentrated as the French Press, but it does make a good cup of coffee.
Fifth, it's time for a little shopping
Get yourself to the supermarket and your local coffee store to stock up on the basic coffee making supplies and whole coffee beans or ground coffee that you will need.
Six, start your coffee makers!
Once you've got everything set up, it's easy to make the coffee, just follow the step-by-step instructions for the French Press or the Filter Coffee Maker.
That's it.
Knowing how to make coffee isn't the difficult part, but making coffee like this every day can be troublesome if you don't know the routine or you're in a hurry. But you can cheat a little: how?
Prepare a coffee making area, and leave the basics set out so each morning you don't have to look for things.
Make sure your coffee equipment is cleaned after it is used, so it's ready the next time.
You can grind a little coffee the night before and keep it in an air-tight container. It's only a few hours earlier so the flavor won't be affected during the night.
