Gevalia Coffee: Popular & Limited Edition Coffees from Gevalia Kaffe

Gevalia coffee is a popular choice. With over 40 different varieties to choose from, Gevalia Kaffe provides regular coffee roasts, regional varieties and even limited or seasonal editions.

And Gevalia coffee is available delivered to your door, so you don't even have to step outside! Unless, of course, you need to buy milk!

Gevalia History

Gevalia is a coffee roastery in Scandinavia that sells their product in Europe and the United States. The company dates back to 1853, founded by Victor Theodore Engwall. It stayed in the family for about 100 years; it was sold to General Foods in the 1960s and subsequently to Kraft Foods in 1971. Gevalia began to sell in North America in 1983 through mail order.

Gevalia still holds the Royal Warrant for coffee roasters bestowed by His Majesty, the King of Sweden. It offers over 40 different coffee blends; the coffees are Arabica blends that use beans mainly from Costa Rica, Kenya, Peru, Columbia, Brazil and Guatemala.

Best Known Coffee: Gevalia coffee

The company is best known for its offer of a free coffee maker with the first order and other incentives. They advertised in magazines and television commercials and direct mail.

With the advent of the internet, Gevalia coffee moved almost exclusively to online marketing. You'll see pop-ups, banner ads and sidebar advertisements at least once a day if you spend any time at all surfing the net.

Social Improvements

Nowadays Gevalia works with agencies to upgrade and enhance living conditions for coffee farmers as well as water quality, coffee processing and handling. It also is working with Peruvian coffee farmers to establish quality standards for their exports.

When farmers learn how to achieve those standards, everyone reaps the benefits from higher-quality beans: farmers, coffee roasters and customers, too! Gevalia's Peruvian Organic Coffee is a consequence of this program that was first offered to its client base in 2002.

Gevalia Specials

Gevalia coffee is a great place to shop if you're looking for something out of the ordinary. You can find an array of unusual or specialist coffees not available in the supermarkets.

For instance, their Indian Malabar is made from a bean with only half the caffeine of other beans. These beans are timed so that the monsoon winds cause them to swell and develop a slightly fruity taste with notes of cloves and honey. It is a full-bodied coffee that will delight your palate while not overwhelming you with caffeine.

Another unusual offering is Costa Rica Peaberry. The Peaberry is relatively rare, making up only 10% of the coffee cherries harvested. These are from the Cordilleras Mountains of Costa Rica, grown in volcanic soil. The coffee has mild acidity, a full body, a rich aroma and a taste reminiscent of citrus and tropical flowers.

Gevalia's Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is 100% Blue Mountain beans, not a blend as you'll find so many are. The coffee is full bodied with floral and fruity notes with a slight spiciness that will excite the palate. Their Kenya blend has a distinctive undertone of sweet berries, the beans dried naturally in the sun. The brew is lively, full-bodied and silky on the palate. Or you may like the Rainforest Organic, a smooth and aromatic brew with floral notes and a pleasant earthiness.

Convenient and Affordable

Whichever Gevalia Kaffe coffee you end up choosing, you'll not have to leave the comfort of your home. Gevalia coffee can only be ordered by mail or via internet and delivers the product to your door. So, if you like the convenience factor, then this is a good choice.

Of course, if you love coffee beans as much as I do, half the fun is going out and finding them, trying different ones, and experimenting with coffee.

And finally...

Wherever you are, remember "Only Coffee Beans Make Great Coffee"! And enjoy that cup of coffee!
